A client with over 800 stores within their estate was keen to explore what ways they could reduce energy consumption amongst their integral refrigeration fleet. Alongside this, they wanted to better understand their energy usage and what they could do to
start reducing it. Drinks refrigeration were targeted for this study, but HVAC, Bakeries, and Lighting are all business-critical functions that require substantial energy usage and can be analysed in further studies with LoweConex.
The team at LoweConex implemented two energy consumption countermeasures on a PureCold 60 open fronted cabinet loaded with bottles of water.
Product probes were also used to record the temperature of the water throughout and this information is available upon request.
Increase Drinks Cabinet Set-Point to an Industry Standard.

Combined Set-point Change & Overnight Shut Off
A combination of countermeasure 1 and a 12-hour compressor shut-down (8pm-8am) will generate an additional reduction of £79.57 in energy cost per cabinet per year.

The study has shown that if this retailer applied both countermeasures to their BWS/Drinks cabinets estate-wide a 24hr energy reduction of 4.6kw and a yearly cost saving of £266.45 per cabinet can easily be achieved with no effect on product.
